The cancelled Australian AOE vessel HMAS Protector which was cancelled in August 1973. She would have been powered by four Rushton and Hornsby 12 AO M diesels for a speed of 20.6kts and carrying 9701 tons of stores, ammunition, diesel fuel, AVCAT, fresh water and food. 335 crewmen would have been carried and two Sea King sized helicopters, although interestingly the plan shows a Frelon on the deck aft.

EDIT: Removed some pixel errors. Detailing is slight but based on what is on plan rather than me speculating. This is actually my first proper auxiliary ship drawing!
EDIT: old image link now dead so replaced with 2021 redraw as shown in post below.

She looks very similar to the French Durance and Canadian Protecteur classes

A thread necromance but for a redraw. Recently some additional information on Protector came to light over at Secret Projects forum and so I thought that I would redraw the Protector.
The drawing and official artist's impression are vague on deck details but I've added some likely bits and pieces and corrected some mistakes in my original drawing.

very nice, Hood! To pick up such a rare ship development and showing us with such a wonderful colored and detailed painting is great! Thank you! I am always looking for never were's. This is really a very rare one. I've never heard before about this design.
