Bloody awesome, Hood!

here i have taken Hoods excellent Leander Class Frigate and applied a few of the Modifications applied by the Royal Navy over there lives.

First up HMS Juno. In 1982 she was intended to go through the Exocet Converion as did 7 of her sisters, however this was cancelled and instead the ship was coverted at Rosyth in 1982 till 1985 to a Navigational trainer having her Weapons systems removed. her Flight deck was extended aft loosing her Limbo morter so she could operate the then new Lynx Helecopter.


Next up HMS Scylla. was converted in 1983-84 as a Batch 3A Sea Wolf ship she had her Sea Cat systems removed an a Sextuplet Sea Wolf Launcher fitted were her Forward Sea Cat system once stood. she also recieved the Appropriate trackers and Radars. her Flight deck was also modified to allow her to operate the Lynx Helecopter.


Next up is Three vessels, HMS Phoebe, Cleopatra and Arethusa. These ships were converted as Towed Array Sub Hunters with the new Type 2031(1) Very Low Frequency Array. Phoebe and Cleopatra were both Exocet Converted Batch 2 but to Compensate for the 70Ton equipment, modifications to there forward decks was requierd, the Exocet boxes were lowered on frames rather than the former 4.5in gum mounting and the forward Sea Cat lanucher was removed. also has Phoebe had previously been fitted with an ealier system it was neccessary to add a platform to her rear. they also received flight deck modifiactions to carry the Lynx Helecopter, Arethusa's was converted much like Cleopatra but retained her Ikara Installation and her rear deck equipment layout matched that of Phoebe but as there were no previous system a platform was not required.

Great work Shippy! I've merged these so that all the RN Leanders can be enjoyed in one place and are easier to find.
I think we've found a new recruit for the Old Grey Funnel Line Faction too!

A further Leander update will be coming soon from me with the new 4.5in Mk.VI mount which is now the correct size.

keep those WIP for a few days if it needs the Ikara as well, working on that..... (the difference might not be that big, but it's worth to take a look at IMO if these are worked on anyways)

I think that Old Grey Funnel Line Faction will have a very useful and prolific member in You.

Although the type23 and type22 batch 3 are my favourite RN frigates. I've always had a thing for the Leanders, Rothesay and Whitby class mainly because they were so numerous ( by RN standards anyway)..
