heres a quick one thought i'd have a go at the short lived River Class Fleet Minesweepers built in the 1980's for the Royal Navy and all but gone by the late 90's, although most are now employed by the Brazilian Navy as Patrol Corvets, or Tenders and the Bangladesh Navy as Mine Sweepers as well as one for the Guyana Defence Force as a Coast Guard cutter. if i get time i will see if i can do a few other versions, for now heres Orrwell as she appered in 1990.

Splendid. Don't forget to mark the year and the Pennant with the name in the title block.

Very nice work. Good to see less-prominent classes of ships being done. :)

A very nice drawing. The blue on the windows looks more purple than then standard SB window colour but that's a small nitpick at what is a nice drawing of a small craft.

A good drawing and indeed a well done work, especially when representing the lesser known ship classes. Well done shippy2013

They were also used as Northern Ireland Patrol Sqn vessels

Which were in turn replaced by Hunt class vessels, one or two of which lost some of there sweeping gear and gained a set of RIB's..... Not sure wether the 3 ships used in the Northern Ireland Squadron one of which I believe one may have been Orwell were modified in any way, but I'll try to find out and do a modified drawing to suit.

Incidentally Orwell was the last vessel to remain in the RN as a training vessel until 2004. It had its forward gun removed as well as a few other modifications.

My mistake, only Blackwater was ever enlisted into the Royal Navy, the other 11 vessels were all assigned to the RNR. Mostly from Rosyth as part of the 10th mine countrmeasures squadron then they were dispersed to various UK Naval bases, by 1991 Helmsdale and Ribble were paid off and laid up at Portsmouth all bar Orwell which became a training ship replacing the last surviving Ton class ship Wilton at Dartmouth, UK in 1994 were treated the same by the end of 1993/94 following defence cuts, Orwell finally succumbing in 2004.

As you were correct Blackwater, Spey, Arun and Itchen all went to Ireland with Helford at Caroline, replacing Ton class ships until 1993 when the Hunts arrived.
