Seems my little unconsidered post about promoting a very highly valued member, at least in own eyes, has instigated this rambling thread. So I apologize for that.
It is also my opinion that the current system works just fine, and as already been said "if it ain't broken, don't fix it"

I've seen several forums with "kudos" systems, members can vote up or down other members, to prevent abuse it's limited to members with x amount of posts.
Are "keyboard warriors" people who don't actually contribute? Just make posts?

At this point we are not changing the membership levels. But the discussion can still go on, for future reference for us.

Yeah, people who make little to no effort to make their own drawings, just rather prefere to nitpick everyone else's.

I personally have never actually drawn a ship...I admit it, I'm a kit-basher. However, I don't nitpick other people's drawings; I prefer to be thankful that folks like BB1987, Gollevainen, WhyMe, Raxar, Radome, DG_Alpha, GarlicDesign, TimothyC, and others take time out of their lives to present us with these works of art (and then go the extra mile and do parts sheets for us as well), and then post them on here for all to see. So, for all those who do draw these ships, whatever their era or type, I'd like to just say:

THANK YOU

OK, so it seems to me like the prevailing opinion is actually against my egalitarian wishes to do away with the colored member titles, and could even be in favor of more forum warrior ribbons and user titles. :|

To sum up my thoughts:

1. The reward for drawing is your own personal satisfaction and the praise received from fellow artists.
2. Post-count related accolades are literally the worst thing and only serve to reward those with a big mouth and not necessarily those who draw.
3. There are not that many people on this forum. It should be obvious based on the tone of the post and the person's name who is and who isn't a newbie.
4. As stated previously, the fake military rank system or military medal system is not attractive to me at all just because those ranks/awards denote actual service (i.e., not drawing boats in MSPaint).

To me the ideal solution is to not have any ranks other than Administrators (who receive no colored member title but have the admin capabilities tied to their account), and the Staff (who remain "green" just so people know who they are). I'm firmly of the belief that a forum needs no moderators but that's another issue entirely...
