The image link is broken, but a copy-paste works. Presumably the belt itself is linear (as manufacturing would require), but it bends and curls on its way towards the bow. In the context of the Shipbucket drawing, as the belt moves towards the bow, it would presumably look lower in height (as the outboard camber increases).

The outboard profile I have shows individual armor plates comprising the belt. The belt is 12' in height and 15' in width from Frame 70 (just forward of the forward-most 5"/38 mount) aft to Frame 155 (just aft of the Number 3 main battery turret). From Frame 70 forward, it increases in height to a maximum of 17' at Frame 43 (just forward of the Number 1 main battery turret). The bottom of the belt stays at a constant 23' 6" from the baseline during its entire run.

The faired lines also confirm my measurements. The next revision is as correct as it can be given the circumstances. Thanks for pointing out that it looked incorrect - otherwise I would not have double checked. :)

Have finally 'finished' the Alaska as of 1945. This is as the ship would have appeared during its service in the Pacific.

I've decided to insert an FD scale drawing of the floatplane into this. I am not sure I will keep it as it's a bit distracting and I can't find a good place for it. We'll see...

This is actually a pretty clever idea, wish I thought of it myself.

It could work, but I think it then needs lot more space in the template between the ship, the plane and the scale-bar.

otherwise, nice to see one of our most legendary ships once again in sharpest fit... perhaps time for me to match my kirovs then ....

Wow, awesome! I would say keep the plane, it really ads to the drawing. Now if only you could do CB-2 in her disruptive scheme...and maybe hawai in her semi complete state... :)

Yes, it is a nice idea, though I agree with Golly on the need to increase the canvass-area. May do the same with the reworked Suffren CAs.

That's a very nice battlecruiser you've got there Colo.
