Updating the 5"/38 mount:

I'm starting with the mounts aboard Alaska (as I am currently trying to redraw it but keep getting held up redrawing all these poorly-scaled parts...)

At some point I will probably draw the rest - but no promises.

I am right now limiting myself to the systems that are on the ships I've drawn that need updating - so I probably will not get to the 5"/54 any time soon. ;)

Updated the OP with the correct version of the USN Weapons/Parts (postwar) drawing, reproduced here:

Do we have an very good line drawing or very good side view of that AN/SPG-55. Because I have a felling that there is something wrong with the drawing... but that perhaps me!

Looking at this Leahy picture, there do seem to be substantial differences. I have to back Heuhen here. Having already found some sources, I'm willing to give it a shot. Might take a while though.

Edit: Nice picture of the SPG-55 aboard Belknap, a month before her collission and subsequent fire. Taken from the Krasny Krim, a Soviet destroyer. Seems to be missing the crossed strengtening bracings present on some other sets.

Ah, yeah, that's one of my 2008 USN parts - so it was not checked for scale or accuracy (at all) but probably just traced from a source drawing. Someone should definitely redo it!

missing from the new sheets and too large on the old ones (due to oversized rendered missile inside the launcher)

note to all: this is not an AA launcher or GMLS, but an MLS, meant for use of the standard missile as anti-ship missile (before Harpoon came in use)
