One issue I have with your setting is that you have a reserve fleet. Reserve fleets are incredibly rare to the point where the only ones who have one these days is the USN. Right now you've got 28 units in reserve of which only the amphibious units and maybe the FACs can realistically be brought back to active status, let alone be worth bringing back.

That's an interesting point that I had never really thought about, and it makes sense. I think I'll drop all the reserve combatant units minus a few of the FACs and keep the landing ships in reserve.

Colo, I have always made an effort to keep the DC modeled after NP, mainly because I like having a realistic military for nations our size. Thank you for reminding me to "K.I.S.S." and "Keep it Real".

Awesome drawing on so many levels! :D
Really like the look and use of the Seasprite (always been a big fan of the G SuperSeasprite version)
also are those water-cooled 30 cal brownings I spy, nice touch? ;)

Thanks - the camouflage above is a Measure 32 variant designed for the Iowa class battleships. It works fairly well on a DDG though...

The MGs are Vickers Mk.I .303s. ;) I imagine in reality they'd be .50 caliber Brownings or similar - but for the drawing I figured I'd put some Vickers and see if anyone noticed.

It'd look positively dashing with Mk 42, preferably with both local control domes preserved.

Yes - I like the way it looks, but to be honest not entirely sold on whether or not I'd keep camouflaging ships into the 21st century. I can understand missile boats and whatnot and maybe even destroyers into the 1970s or 80s, but in the missile/computer age it seems like extra work. I imagine if the North Point forces bothered with it, would be entirely for troll and "manliness" factor more than anything.

Come to think of it, that's basically this entire AU.

I will open a separate thread for the actual designs since I believe they've been lost in this mountain of posts.

I say keep it (It looks completely badass by the way ;) ). Keeping it real makes it very interesting, but sometimes you just have to handwave the little things (like camouflage on Burkes  )
