Thank you Heuhen that explains a lot!

also is it the general rule bow thrusters go 2-3 before the bow?

also assuming you are H.Heuser, how did you create that Top-view? it looks amazing!

That was just an general number after the size of you'r vessels and hull type. Most vessels like to have the bow thrusters so far forward as possible.

With very good reference, I had the builder's plan on my hand! (the advantage of having an stepfather in the Navy, that was one of many men and woman tat worked for the Navy to get these vessels. He as an radar and electronic specialist)

And also with skills, and the understanding about hove things have to be drawn. The ship is drawn with help of builder's plan and HD pictures that I did take of here.

Ahh, Thank you, and once again it looks great!

also I have been asking around for the I-mast 400/500 missile guidance capabilities - 500 is on my vessel
Altough that there is no conclusive information, the information I could find it appears that the I-mast is capable of guiding the ESSM/NSSM

The reason why I believe it can is because the system is deprived from APAR, which is capable of tracking and guiding ESSM/NSSM
I-Mast is capable of being placed on a Frigate-Class vessel thus needing to control multiple weapon systems.

The Sea-master 400 PDF, actually says it is capable of controlling weapons systems.
quotation to support my findings "SEA MASTER 400 simultaneously provides the required air surveillance, helicopter control, surface surveillance and weapon control functions."

Multiple sources,
Including students at my school (Nautical school, training young people to become sailors/soldiers)
Dutch Navy Forum
(Inconclusive) information from Thales

I hope that this is enough to convince you.

the I-mast is not derived from APAR.
I believe it cannot guide NSSM or ESSM, as there is no vessel designed with I-mast and missiles without at least one additional director. we cannot be certain of this until an vessel with I-mast (or an I-mast 500, for that matter) is build.

weapon control can also be gun control. missile control is not and is never mentioned in combination with the I-mast, and even if it would be it is possible they only mean systems like RAM.

what is certain though, is that you would be able to adapt the I-mast to guide missiles. I-mast is basically an open platform, in which a lot can be installed. there is no reason to be certain though, that the I-mast 500 can guide missiles, and the I-mast 400 can not (even if it is just because she is not designed to do so)

I-mast is derived from APAR

Proof:

Also why not use the Smart-Sm2 to guide the missiles?

what are talking about, SMART-S? you are not saying there is an SMART-S in I-mast, do you? :P
anyways, derived from does not mean it can do the same. it could use the computer system, or the mission experience from the APAR. even parts! but it does not mean they do the same thing. you are right though, but not completely: she is derived from APAR, SMART-S, SMART-L......
the SEAMASTER 400 or SMILE, as it is also known , is an volume search radar with some targeting capabilities, just like the SMART-S Mk 2. and thus, has nothing to do with the targeting and directing platform that is APAR.
(also, the tracking mostly mentioned is sufficient for guns, not for missiles, you need directing for that as well)

haha no :p

I know it doesn't mean it can do the same, but it made me wonder if it would be capable of doing the same, glad we got that out of the way.

because I was in a rush I made a mistake, I thought the Smart-S MK2 was a small radar with missile guidance, however it is not so lets keep it out of the conversation :D

anyway what you posted earlier sparked my interest, however I'm not entirely certain we are thinking on the same level

because I'm in AU we can assume the I-mast 500 is capable of guiding rockets.
(not to say that cows can fly because it is my AU, but to give us a bit more breathing space)

now would I still need the SPIR-180 if the above appears to be true?

you could install an guidance system in the I-mast. for example, SEAPAR, the system once considered as an replacement for STIR 180. it would make you loose other capabilities, for example the SMILE, though. the space in the I-mast is limited.

if I were you, I would just opt for one STIR 180 (or 2, maybe, but even the south korean frigate concepts with I-mast have only one STIR on board.)
that said, my best AU ship uses and system that combines the search function similar to SMART-S and the direction and tracking function of APAR in an single mast, similar to I-mast. but that system would be way too big, heavy and expensive to fit on an OPV.

on a sidenote, rockets do not need guidance. missiles do :P look up the difference ;)

Sorry about that, my brain isn't always working along-side me, at least you understood me :p

so what I did:
  • Intergrated SEAPAR into the I-mast 500, moved comms up, nothing mayor should be changed, and it is wide-end

    Changed MK48 into MK48 mod1

    moved bow thrusters

replaced placeholder with (AU) Nozh 76mm - made by Typhoon ind.

    added exhaust

    Cleaned it up a bit

I like it! If I remember correctly there is a cargo crain on the other side of the hanger? If so is there only one rhib?

I ask because maybe you can double stack two ribs where you have one similar to the Flight IIA Burkes. assuming uou have room of course. I would think an OPV would benefit from redundancy in small boat ops as well has having two for conducting law enforcement boards. I was a boarding officer once upon a time, we always used tWo ribs.

Just a suggestion!
