Following my recent post of the UK's Rosenbauer Panthers, I thought I'd do some for Newquay Airport since using the current corporate colours of purple, gold and white don't really suit an airport fire engine, so here's my attempt based on older Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service livery when it was still Cornwall County Fire Brigade:

And now the smaller 4x4 Panther which could be used as a rapid intervention vehicle at an airport like Newquay or Culdrose together with the larger 6x6 vehicles, or as the main fire appliance at a smaller airfield like Land's End and St Mary's:

To continue the fire service theme, here are some of the vehicle types operated by the Duchy of Cornwall Fire Brigade:

With the Royal Canadian Air Force shortly receiving the F-35 Lightning II to replace its aging Hornet fleet, the Canadian Government has been looking for options for disposal of their Hornets. An offer was made to the Duchy of Cornwall for a number of aircraft to be donated to the Cornish Defence Force. Due to the limited defence budget the Duchy was unable to accept because of the infrastructure and support staff which would be required. Cornish Defence Force bases St Mawgan and Culdrose continue to host both Canadian and US Hornets during training exercises, but this is how Cornish CF-18's may have looked in service:

The Cornish Defence Force maintains a small contingent of CVR(T) vehicles donated from the British Army. These are the only tracked armoured vehicles in the CDF, forming part of 1 Armoured Squadron, Duchy of Cornwall Regiment.

The vehicles are often used for training exercises on Bodmin Moor or at training areas across the border, but also serve in the important base protection role at St Mawgan (air base & barracks), Culdrose (air base & barracks) and Falmouth (naval base). At times of increased security, they may also be deployed to the three main road entry points to the Duchy at Saltash, Launceston and Kilkhampton to support border checkpoints.



The workhorse of the CDF on the ground is the Land Rover Wolf. With a large number of reservists in the CDF, the Wolf performs many emergency civil duties such as search and rescue on the moors and coast and to provide medical services in highly rural areas. The vehicles and crews can also be called upon to support the Duchy of Cornwall Constabulary when additional police manpower is required. A small number of armed and armoured variants are also maintained and often used abroad on peacekeeping missions, typically as part of an Irish or Canadian deployment.

I've made some corrections to my old AW149 / AW189 and redone the shading, so here she is in Cornish service:



The Cornish Defence Force operates 6 AgustaWestland AW189 named "Palores" from St Mawgan and Culdrose. Four are kitted out for search and rescue, replacing the former UK RAF & Royal Navy Sea Kings which operated in Cornwall for so many years. The two remaining helicopters are used in the transport/utility role and can be quickly changed for different seating or equipment configurations, such as for medevac or civilian transport.

Now for the personal aircraft of the Duke of Cornwall, a Piaggio Aero P.180 Avanti II:



The aircraft is owned by the Duke and used for VIP transport, primarily around Europe on Duchy Government business. It is based at St Mawgan under the protection of the Cornish Defence Force.
