That Problem do I also have with my laptop. I had it to repair several time and it still does it!

What I have done: New hard drive, new motherboard, new graphic card, new screen (2 times.).

I am afraid it is my processor (CPU) that is giving my all this problem. My reason is that "my PC is getting stuck from time to time and are slower that normal some times. and frome times to times it just reboot it self! A CPU that getting stuck in a process can make some of these problems, but that can also the memory)

The only answer Bill is a big hammer... once you've transfered your files that is!

I'm on my work lap top for now. Re the p.c. its most probably the mother board (though I used a third word in between mother and board ) My pal is coming around again on Tuesday to see what gives; the only problem is that we end up still sitting in front of the p.c. at midnight and arguing about planes versus ships (he's ex RAF). BTW, I did suggest the hammer solution, but he sees it as a challenge!!

Well, problem solved, old p.c. to the tip, and I now have a reconfigured Dell vostro 230 with about twice the capacity, and with Windows 7, plus lots of other bells and whistles, some of which I might even use My mate asked me for the same price he paid for it...zilch, but I have to swear on my heart that the RAF could single handedly defend these sceptred isles, leaving the R.N. as a ferry service...um? not far from the truth anyway

I'm enjoying the new Paint, but haven't cracked yet how to get text onto a file with anti aliasing Kim, I'll pm you the Jamaica today and maybe as you to complete the text when you apply your genius to the camo and COA

Anti-aliasing is the first thing I turn off on any new computer.

Where it really matters (re:drawings) is inside MS Paint. I believe this option is set by unchecking "Smooth edges of screen fonts" in the Performance tab. Google should have some good info on that.

Thanks Colo, I'll go down that route. I must say the speed of my p.c. has gone from Volkswagen Beetle to Porsche Cayman My IT chum is even going to reinstore my old drive as a second computer, so I have a constant back up.

Nah. LP now has me dusting off this gizmo for transferring video onto dvd, and wants loads copied; I tried it before but gave up, now I'm onto it again (I really belong in a world of bakelite telephones)
