It depends a bit, it seems... postwar most aircraft (apart from the MG) seemed to have either the plane's given name or a combination of that and the manufacturer, while earlier it might've been just the manufacturer. Also the wartime numbers seem to have been more randomized (to conceal the actual number, I guess), while prewar and postwar it was rationalized in most cases. Well, apart from the later MiGs perhaps.

Before selecting the Leopard 1, the Australian Army conducted trials of both the Leopard and the M60A1. The Leopard was eventually chosen for its higher reliability and easier strategic mobility (due to its lighter weight), but what if the M60 had been chosen:

The first of (what should be) several P-40s and spin-offs thereof.

N.B. Ignore the P-40F designators. I'll update the drawings with their Atlantian designators accordingly.

Depicted in 1942 (for this drawing at least) A P-40F of No.1 Sqn RAtAF Identifier N1•A Callsign Ender-One. The colours on there making up the early-mid war temperate scheme are RAL 6034 (Pastel turquoise), RAL 6003 (Olive Green) and RAL 1036 (Pearl Gold) P-40s were used throughout the war by Atlantia in many guises most of which powered by variants of the RR Merlin. Armament varied from the earliest models which were delivered with 6x 7.92mm MGs to the standard 6x 12.7mm layout found on most P-40s to the "rhinos" with 4x 20mm Hispano pattern cannon. After the introduction of the MB.3 and P-51 P-40s were gradually but steadily cascaded down to secondary duties most importantly ground attack. In this newly appointed role they rather excelled, not to the degree of a P-47 or Typhoon but perfectly well. One notable use of the type in this role was in the Pacific theatre where late in the war during the campaign to capture Rangoon. Hawks descending onto the city deployed Napalm, rockets and 20mm cannon fire with devastating results upon the Japanese occupying forces.

ETA: Roundels :oops:

Here the Daumann Da-125-23 which is a licensed copy of the Vickers Viscount.
The license was bought in 1964, production started later the same year and continues in limited series production to this day.

@APDAF
I would prefer if You add Your name to credits.
(otherwise someone could think that this livery is my idea) ;) :lol:
