I'm wanting to upgrade a corvette design, the original idea of which was to be able to spam large amounts of ESSM, but I have too few guidance channels to really hold off a dedicated air attack, so I need a better option. I'd originally thought about the I-Mast, but that thing is too fugly for my tastes, so back to the drawing board.

I was then looking through the Dutch parts sheets, and noticed the SEAPAR, which looks like an mini APAR unit, and I presume functions in the same fashion, meaning it perches on top a mast, and needs a volume search radar, like its bigger cousin. If this is the case, then what radar is the best match for it on a corvette sized warship?

The weapons fit is wrong, but the ship is correct from what I've seen of the source material.

Interesting, though I was going for the stand alone, not integrated version of SEAPAR. The problem with the integrated version is it's SEAPAR+Smart S+coms, but I'm already using Smart S mk II... will try something, though...

SEAPAR works exactly as you describe it. the volume search radar should be an LW-08 or SMART-S. on S frigate modifications, I have even seen her with both systems on board
SEAPAR is indeed basically APAR, but only for ESSM and similar missiles. the amount of missiles that can be guided are lower as well, I suppose.
if you see APAR as replacement for the STIR 240, SEAPAR is an replacement for STIR 180. that is, IMO, the best way too look at it, as the SEAPAR is never fully developed

Well, what I'm looking to do is to move the Smart S Mk II to the rear, and put the SEAPAR on the forward mast. The only thing i'm not sure of is having that radar that far back there--I don't know what, if anything sits directly underneath it.

you COULD put SMART-S on top of the seapar mast. this has been done in some of the concepts.

but I think, absalon style, you could fit the SMART-S aft, just watch out for the mainmast with seapar blocking it ;)

This design isn't even remotely ready to post anywhere else, but my progress so far. I still need to confer with Blackbuck about some of the Atlantean sensor and systems fits, as well as possible CIWS mountings, but this is the rough layout for radars.

seems to work for me (although it is not the looker with the current masts and all, but WIP so I think you are going to fix that.
