I'm not really feeling the BZC-708/808 though there's nothing wrong with them. There were a few piston-to-jet designs (though they were never converted from piston designs, the Comet and Jetliner used engineering and aerodynamic principles typical of piston aircraft of the time) but they got blown away pretty quick by much more advanced designs. The airframes were just too limited to get good economics out of jet engines.

I know... :-( I made them just for curiosity, the Breda in my AU failed after the planes became to expansive for the use, been surpassed by the new Boeing 720 (later 707) and the the DC-8. The company as been bought by the Alenia Caribia and start the 9 series as the 919, the 929, and the 959 for fill the gaps of regional jets and the hole left by the 757, for the users that don't need the 787 and the 737 is to small.

The CVN as been removed due to her high cost of service... The defence budget cut it as her air component before the enter in service of the F-35C, trying to save money also from that project. Now the main ships of the Navy are the CVH with the F-35B with improved equipment.

As now the Navy Aviation is composed like this.

All regrouped in their original page.

Here is an update of the Air force with the new AC-27 (instead of the AC-130), the MC-27 (instead of MC-130) and the B-1D (like the B-1R concept) with the Air-to-Air capacity and the possibility to carry the AMRAAM and the Meteor AAM.

All regrouped in their original page.

The AL-46B ABL seems rather doubtful with the laser protuding through the cockpit...... One of the reasons the pick the 747 for the task in USAF before being cancelled.

The laser pass trough the cargo area. If you check the Laser "eye" is under the level of the main cabin floor. 8-)

Yet alone the sheer size and weight of the Airborne laser makes the 767 to small......

Not real... Think about that the US Army have a laser system on the Hummer powerful enough to destroy the IEDs at something like 100/150 meters... So an ABL right now is not so impossible...
