Then he's just going to have to go and completely redesign the ship then. It's looking like that's the most practical solution, rather than trying to jam a square peg into a round hole and insist that's the only way it can be done.

I suggest having the gun well aft, like on real life landing ships with guns this large.

that was what I was going to suggest too. aft you have the hull depth to have an larger magazine, you have the bouyancy to support the bigger weight and you have a lot less to do with waves. you have to watch out for the engines though, and of course the vehicle deck.

near or on the aft superstructure. look at any heavy guns on landing ships.
