I'm not going to comment on the technical side, but given the historical considerations, one would rather expect that Spanish Republic would use rather Soviet/Russian ships and equipment.
Well, I have the opinion that a Republican victory in the Civil War over the rebels was passing by a decisive support of United States, France and the United Kingdom. To this we must add the Spanish position in the second world war, where Soviet support would be null. However U.S. support would be great, to be able to use Spain as a platform to attack the occupied Europe, even in the case that the Iberian peninsula was also occupied in part by Germans
