I had the crazy idea to search for "shipbucket" into Facebook and I got few results...

After a consultation with the others Mods I made the official Shipbucket page on Facebook: its main purpouse is to protect our "brand" keeping the place.
Moreover we could use it as backup communication tool in case of some faults of the main forum.
In this moment we are not thinking to other uses but...

The link is ... search for Shipbucket: I enter from the rear door of the page and I don't see its address!

Not to be a wiseass or anything, but if we demand that other people abide by our crediting rules shouldn't we do the same?

I'm not seeing the correlation between having a facebook page and crediting? How are those two issues connected? Personally, I think having an FB page for ourselves may be a good thing.

We're routinely going after people who take our work and make pictures akin to the one used on the front page
I'm all for an FB page, but I think it would be best if we kept our own rules.

The Facebook page is just a "presence" page; it's not designed to replace the actual Shipbucket website and forum. Furthermore, it's run by the staff - so I'm not sure what you mean re: keeping our own rules?

Thank you for bringing this point up Thiel, we will take it under advisement and will consider it carefully.

Colo - the ships in the cover image don't have credits attached.

Well, that won't work for those that don't have Facebook account. (like me  )

Well, it's not guaranteed 100% of success in reaching all members - but it gets pretty close. ;) The Facebook page has already had over 30 "Likes".

We also have a twitter account which Tim manages. So I think in the case of unplanned downtime, it would be fairly easy to "cascade" relevant information to everyone.

Indeed. The Twitter account (which you can see even if you don't have a twitter account) is https://twitter.com/Shipbucket . It's also got a link on the main page, and in my signature.
