The biggest difference between this one and Alaska is that Alaska is bigger, faster, bigger guns and have aircraft..... But I see what you are on about.

Devastation class

they was build to replace 6 different large capital ship.

Devastation class was one of the first ships in Caledoninan Navy to use only Caledonian weapons and systems. "Devastation" was launched in 1900 while here 8 sister ships was launched in the time period of 1903-1908. She was armed with 6 twin 305 mm guns, 3 twin 130 mm guns, and 10 single 75 mm guns. When launched they was the backbone of the fleets, until the Thunder class came.

all 8 sisters was a part of the british grand fleet but didn't see any action, since they had to get back home to Caledonia since there was some conflicts between several country's in Asia. Caledonia needed to protect they borders up North against Asia! When USA asked Caledonia as the nearest Navy with large capital ship near South-America and retriever American people, Caledonia send 4 of the Devastation class. When they arrived South America, they com under attack by shore battery, but they was silented fast by this 4 sisters.

In 1925 they was upgraded with better gun director, and received a small amount of AA battery. in 1930 they lost they're wing 305 mm guns, in favor of DP guns and more AA battery, they lost also they casemate and they got a new superstructure aft and forward. 1932 the two funnel was shrunken in to one for giving place for a single scouting plane. From 1935 to 1940 they was replaced by Arman class.

Very cool design, Heuhen. A real Warship, I'd say.

Pretty ship, though I can't say as much for the paint scheme IMO.

Why must you always make me feel so inadequate about my drawings! I agree with the consensus on the paintjob too, it's pretty ghastly.

To white in the grey or to grey in the white.

Originally I designed the ship with black hull and gold superstucture, but then my brain started to talk: "Hey, tell you what is smart...."

Oh don't feel that, in fact I feel that every time I see one of you'r drawings. If I only had a part of you'r brain for a day...

Just for the heck of it I did some small work on large caliber gun's, parts from the time period 1902-1903:

I classified them as either a Heavy armored turret (305 mm) or light armored (406 mm). And also the 305 mm can be placed in a super-firing position and the 406 mm can not.
