SS Macedonia
Laid down on 1912 in James Laing & Sons Ltd Shipyards, at Sunderland UK, for National Steam Navigation Co Ltd of Greece serving in varius routes, such as Greece-Italy-USA, Homeland routes and Greece Italy Routes.
Later 1912 and with the break out of 1st Balcan War she was call forth by RHN to surve as a merchant cruiser.
On 14 January 1913, theTurkish Cruiser "Hamidiye" slipped through the Greek naval blockade of the Dardanelles under cover of night, and proceeded to raid Greek shipping in the Aegean. The next day, at Syros Island where the SS Macedonia was moored, Hamidiye attacked to the port by gunfire achiving to semi-sunk the Macedonia!
10 days later Macedonia refloat by her own means and after repairs she continue serving his company till 1916 when she sold
to a Netherlands company under the same name. 1921 she change again owners. The new company Lloyd Latino renamed her to Pinzio. She scraped on 1932.
I am not sure if the underwater hull is correct as i couldn't find any drawings and also these colours propably is not of
the owning company because the only photo i find was from the period of 1st Balcan war, where the ship propably was
painted with these here!
