Just playing around a bit, and thought I might try and update the Jupiter as she would have looked in 1941. I removed the 4 x 5.5", 4 x 4"HA, and 4 x 2 Pdr's; replacing them with 8 x 4.5"/45 (4 x 2), 14 x 40mm (7 x 2), and 40 x 20mm (20 x 2). I also replaced the main directors, added 4 Mk.51 AA directors, gave her a new catapult and floatplane, and added some early radar to the masts.

Hopefully it looks something like what a late 20's cruiser updated in 1940-41 might look like.

the original 1927 version for comparison

I'd replace the AA director with a radar guided one and I'd find room for another one up front. I'd also raise the aft one a bit so the range finder doesn't hit the other director.
I'd also move the fore main battery director higher up. The top of the conning tower should do nicely. I'd then place the second aa director in the spot you've just cleared, put a mk 51 director in front of it and place a 40mm gun in front of the bridge. You may have to build a small platform to make it fit, but the added ahead fire should more than make up for it.
I'd also fit some more LAA directors on the quarterdeck.

Personally I'd use the 4.5" Mk III BD IV mount instead of the Mk II Mount, since you have the space for this much roomier and easier to maintain mount.

another try at this

Plus, something I was also playing with. The Odin, her aft structures and 4 & 5 turrets heavily damaged in the brief 6-Weeks War of 1936 (precursor to the 3rd Prussian War of 1940-45) was rebuilt into a scout seaplane-cruiser in 1937-38.

Succesfull? Maybe, maybe not. Just thought it might be fun to show my older ships in the various stages of their careers the way some of y'all have been doing with RL ships.

Well, if there are no more comments on the Sentinel class, I'm going to go ahead and post it to my RN topic. Same for the updates to the Jupiter class, unless there are any more suggestions?

I can be patient, yes. I'd rather get it right than get in a hurry. :D

Starting with the Jupiter.
First off, get rid of the director in the mast. It's too far away from any of the guns to be of much use and ship motion at that height will make it even worse.
Instead I'd place two on the quarter deck between the two foremost 40mm guns (I'm assuming there's three arranged in a triangle) with one overlooking the other.
You should also check the clearances on the AA directors. That circle on the side is one arm of the range finder sticking out.

Would you mind if I try making a version of the Odin? Most of my comments will be rather hard to convey in text.

Just wondering, how come the catapult on the Jupiter is mounted so high up?
