Yeah, Novice is right, it is the right radar, and the template could use the fix (when you do the rest, no need for an update to fix just the template).

Thank you, gentlemen. When I repost to the upload thread, they'll have the SB logo and proper text sizing. And I'll start on the SPN-6 today.

I am only wondering if the TACAN you have here is different from the ones on the spruances? it seems logical that it should be the same, so why an different drawing of it? just asking ;)
otherwise, good work.

Whew, here we go. Sorry for the delay, been busy with work and school. Acelanceloet, that is the TACAN that is on the original Iwo and that is also on a (fairly recent) parts sheet that I was given.
Anyway, here's Okinawa in '72, for the HC-7 recovery of Showtime 100:

Here's Okinawa as retired:

Here's Guam as she was off of Beiruit in 1983 (figures into an upcoming AH that I'm concocting):

Here's Guam as retired in '98:

And here's Inch:

As a bonus, I'm including the SPN-6 CCA radar:

Very nice work. It's nice to see some of the non-combatant USN fleet. The only qualm I have is that it is preferred that the Phalanx mounts face fore or aft (and not outboard) if they can be trained that far.

There were at least three TACAN varieties in the Cold War. A big dome (on the missile cruiser conversions, eg), this dome (same as the early Spruance, I think) and the modern saucer.

I second erik_t, I've used the big-domed TACAN on the CLG:s and the DLGN-37 South Carolina. Btw, Gator, your drawings are simply smashing artwork! I like how you blended in the sponsons; that's something I might emulate in the future! As for the Phalanxes, keep 'em as they are, they should face outboard with their position beneath flight deck!

Thanks guys. However, I noticed one thing: I HAVE THE SLQ-32 ON OKINAWA - IN 1972!!! I was worried that somebody would play I Spy. I'll fix it ASAP. And I can't find any pictures of Iwos with the flat TACAN, and I have never seen them with the big "pot" (ie JFK).
