Here`s the first submarine I`ve made for Norseland, indeed the first sub that I have made that has been posted here too. I don`t have a name for the class as of now. Don`t worry, it will come to me. Unless you guys want to help.
The sub was made in a time when the side Norseland could take in the last stages of peace in the late 30`s was pretty much either way. So Norseland needed new subs that could take on the greatest warships Europe could produce. Be it the KGV, or the Bismarck. So the sub was given 8 torpedo tubes in the front and 4 in the stern, and a big torpedo capacity. She would need enough range to be able to prowl the Atlantic for merchant shipping, and patrol between Norway and Iceland while still being able to keep up with the other subs of other navies. The engines were large and heavy, but powerful. Early service was plagued by mechanical unreliablity, but was fixed shortly after Norseland entered the war. Extra arnaments were a powerful 5 inch deck gun mounted fore of the conning tower and two 30mm guns two abaft the spotting platform. In 1940 an additional one was added in front of it. The results were a class of quite big submarines. Around the size of the Japanese Type C submarines. They were the largest class of submarines that Norseland launched until the launch of the first ballistic missile submarine in the 60`s.
Over all length is 106,15 meters long. The displacement is probably in, or around 2500-3500 tons.
