Like this I suspect. Nobody is going to keep such an old design around for long.
Oh the famous BB Razor......

Very well she is a razor in the 30's then (20 years of service, must be a nice maximum)

Um, Germany did.
Okay then, nobody keeps such old designs around if they have any say in the matter. Germany did not.
And even then they converted one to a target and two to training ships.

Germany only kept pre-dreadnoughts around as that was all she was permitted to keep after the Versailles treaty. The high seas fleet was scuttled in scapa flow taking with it the two ships that had been granted for Germany to retain (the incomplete Mackensen was originally to be kept but swapped for Bayern) and one of the Konigs I believe.

Without those larger ships, they were only granted the smaller pre-dreadnoughts that none of the victor powers wanted and were deemed suitable solely for coastal defense and no more.

Back on topic, excellent looking ship there Heuhen. Always liked the hull shapes and paint schemes of that era.

I have one some more on here, so now she looks even better.... I hope!

Now I have to to the upgraded version. What I have some idea to do is:

- One big funnel forward and one small funnel aft.
- new bridge layout. a-la Queen Elizabeth Class
- Give here some simple gun directors.for both main and second battery.
- increase of early AA battery and changing third armament to 3" guns.
- main gun upgrade, improved versions. And perhaps new guns.

If she is laid down around 1910-15, this is an upgrade she could have around 1920-25 than a final one at 1930 very similar to Queen Elizabeth Class (while the Queen Elizabeth Class keep going to far into the 40's, main while ends it's day in the 30's. The arguments is that she is to old, and here seed of just 20 knots is to slow for a ship of this type, and the cost of having here running. cheaper to build a new one.)

Nice redesign of a classic looking vessel. After her refit though she wouldn't be in such bright colours; most navies the world over abandoned colourful schemes in 1905 or so for the boring all over grey.

I like it. :D

However, I can't see such a design being laid down after Dreadnought. I would make the laydown date 1904, by the time Dreadnought's specifications are known a great deal of material has been assembled. Either scrap her (a bit of a waste) or complete her but she's obsolete before launch. So complete her but she gets sold to a smaller nation.

I did a SS2 for 1904, I'll try and post it tonight.
