Hey all,

I'm currently finishing off a top view for my AU carrier and I'm trying to work out how to draw the 4.7in gun turrets from above. I've got all the AA weapons positioned already but I can't find much reliable information as to the dimensions of a turret itself.

In this instance they a single guns one forward and two aft of the bridge structure on the island if that helps at all. Anybody got good refs or recommendations as to how to draw it?

You could always post the gun/mount itself here so we can see it. ;)
If it's an RL mount, a front view(as a source picture) is almost as good as a top view, since it will suggest a lot about the shape and appearance of the turret from above. You might have to do some guestimating as well. It was doing so that I did the 105mm M/32 gun mounts for Erikrike(a front view picture of the mount on Navweaps, and some guestimating on the width).

The gun was a modified real world one though I can't for the life of me remember what one it was. I'm still working on making a proper parts sheet for Sieran but until then, its the guns on the island here;

My guess would be you used a german 127mm cannon, SK L/45 C/34 in single mount C/34, which was used on several german destroyer classes (1934, 1934A, 1936 & 1936B).

You're probably right there as I know I used a lot of stuff from the German vessels in the past. Not so much now but still a few about.

If you don't mind, I had a quick go at how it could look:

Looks alright. I've found some photos of the German gun DG_Alpha mentioned and this one seems to show how they would look. It looks like there's is a slight curvature to the front plate of the turret but that might be a trick of the eye.

Well I used KHTs guns (both the 4.7in and the 40mm guns) on the drawing which is now finished and posted in my AU thread.
