A friend of mine on deviant art is being accused of art theft by another person because an ocean liner drawing of his looks similar to one done by the other guy. I could use you help in this case to determine if my friend's art is actually stolen or it just a big coincidence and the other guy is just talking BS.


here is a side by side comparison of the images(the accuser's on the top and my friends on the bottom)

this should answer your question. I have overlaid the original drawing with your friends drawing, the top one with 50% transparancy.
95% at least can be considered an exact copy.

also, with all due respect, but the modifications on the lower ship do not show the same effort, knowledge and interest as was shown creating the top one.

Ace has it right, and that's a darn close rip. There is just too much there to not have had it taken. It's not just the main shape, but the small things - most of the hatches are the exact same, and in the same place or only slid a few pixels.

We have had some cases of theft, but these people don't last long.

The rigging gives it away instantly. On a drawing of that size to be exactly the same almost to the pixel is near impossible without copying.
