Right, so I have the powerplant visible now (In a separate layer from the main drawing.) I have also changed the underwater hull, hopefully for the better?

wait what! COSAG?
also, you still have perry parts on board, and that hull seriously needs updating (the daring drawing on the main site seems to be somewhat old)

Uhh. Yea its COGAS. I'm guessing I shouldn't have used it though?

What part of Perry is still on?

And alright I will go back to work on the underwater hull.

well, COGAS.... gas turbines for cruising, and steam for sprint. I would use it the other way around, as steam can be relatively efficient, and gas turbines are light and powerful but thirsty. you can use it, but the funnels do not really match now :P also, you seem to have copied the parts from another ship... as said before, be certain you know what all parts do before you use them ;)

but, try out, make mistakes, and maybe you arrive somewhere where I would not expect it to end..... but which might work!

Damnit ace! You sniped me.

It's not so much shouldn't, just an odd choice for such a modern ship. Generally for a modern ship it would be an afterthought (like the DDG-51 COGAS proposal) it would be say four gas turbines with steam turbines on the exhausts for better efficiency and extra oomph. Have a read at this. What you appear to have now though is more in-line with ace's thoughts on COSAG. The steam plant should be somewhat smaller than it is currently if at all.

Cheers.

Also I have currently gotten rid of the boiler and steam turbine, and thats made space for me to make an alright mast for the SAMPSON.

Not brilliant yet, but it looks alot better than other things that I have tried in my opinion.

Edit:
[ img ]

Bit of an update to the Hull and Powerplant.

Also updated the weaponry. 96 Cells over all. 32 on the stern for AAW and 64 on the center for ASuW and Anti-Missile.
I am still thinking of radar/sensor to put in place of the blue-hued one on the Type 45.

The funnel is still wrong. now all the exhaust is going straight at the Smart-L. It wouldn`t be such a problem if you have two funnels at the sides. Or one funnel that`s tilted ala De Zeven Provincien.
