Beautiful aircraft, Thiel. I'd never heard of it before, seems a shame it didn't go into full production. I wonder why it had the XF designation, as it isn't an experimental fighter?

Nice AS350, Guilllermo. It would be nice to see in some operators colours if you've got some spare time.

It was an experimental photo reconnaissance plane. Before they converted to the 1962 United States Tri-Service aircraft designation system all reconnaissance planes had F numbers.

It's also the reason why the Mustang was the P-51 rather than F-51 even though it had nothing to do with patrol bombers.

Suitable for ships from 1927 to the late 1930s. Replaced by the Curtiss SOC Seagull. Blank except for panel lines and shadows. Color in as you see fit.

I think it was 1947 that the designation changed when the USAAF became tha USAF. Recon plane became RF or RB
