this gives you an idea for the LCVP's.

is your ship an command ship? then I would suggest S1850/SMART-L. otherwise: SMART-S or ARTISAN or something like that.

note the huge space an Mk 41 takes, space that could be halved by putting only self defence weapons (max ESSM) on board. this will also drive down the cost: those directors are expensive!

the CIWS is already very high, and so is your hangar. if you look at other LPD designs with hangar, you will see that the helocontrol is most of the time lower then the top deck.
note that your structure is already huge per normal standards, so why would you?

While contemplating further changes to my LPD, and getting stuck, I put this together.

Nice design, but I'm not sold on SeaCat. First of all the Mk. 95 isn't capable of guiding it and secondly, SeaSparrow is just entering service by 1974.

In "my world" the Mk 95 can guide both, as both those BPDMS are systems used by my navy. Later versions of the Ruffian class do have the SeaSparrow (SeaSpike in my navy) system, but the first 6 ships were built with the already proven SeaCat (SeaDart in my navy). Eventually the first 6 had the SeaDart replaced with the SeaSpike.

I do not know if the wavelength and 'way of guidance' for seacat and NSSM match up.... I actually doubt if they do, but they might. if they don't, such an construction is impossible.

I'm pretty sure my techwonks would make sure they do. This ain't the USN or RN after all, I just use the weapons and radars from them because A.) I suck at trying to design my own unique designs of radar -and- B.) I suck at trying to design my own unique designs of weapons, and find it simpler to use types I'm at least semi-familiar with. Suffice to say, if I put a Type 95 guidance system on there with a SeaCat, it has been worked out to work together, and modifications have been made to allow it to work with the SeaSparrow as well, since they are both "my" systems in this sense.

Thing is, SeaCat is a command guided from the ship while SeaSparrow is Semi-Active Radar Guided. The two systems work in completely different and incompatible ways.

*sigh*

Then what do you suggest for a guidance system?
