BB1987, you're right. I've built a 1/700 scale model of the Ashigara, as of 1940, and I used modified turrets, not the ones provided in the kit, and I had no problem fitting the barrels at 0-elevation. I've also used extensively the seminal work on the IJN cruisers (forgot the author's name...)

Nice work! Giving me ideas for a cruiser for my IJN AU thread! :) Further proposals for this thread: Nachi (as completed), Ashigara (at Spithead Review, 1937), and Haguro (as sunk, 1945).

my plan was (to quote my first post):

Myoko in 1944
Nachi in 1944 and possibly 1928
Haguro in 1930, 1941 and 1944
Ashigara in 1937, 1944 and possibly 1945

I can switch Ashigara 1945 to a 1945 aguro, that depends on the sources i found.
But tomorrow, now it's time to go and have fun

Nachi as of 1928, Haguro as of 1930 and the Ashigara as of 1937! Sounds like a yum plan!

Getting there (at least for 1944 Myoko)
[ img ]

The main thing to do now is to search for aircrafts, then check around if there are errors or missing bits; after that i can craft the 1944 version for the other ships and work on each one separately.
