Instead of making the Kii-class BBs virtual copies of the Amagi-class CBs, the IJN decided to do things a bit different. In the end, the ships that emerged were quite impressive, and even better armed than the original design (12 x 16-in. guns instead of 10). The four ships in the class were completed in the mid-1930s, and were the last 'standard battleships' completed by the IJN before they concentrated solely on the 'large battleship' concept that emerged with the Yamato-class and the subsequent designs.

i have just two comments: first, where are the blige keels gone? and second, check the 127mm guns, you have type 89 mod 2 forward of the funnel and type 89 mod 3 aft.

I think she will topple over if someone in the conning tower gives of a healthy sneeze...
While it's certanly a cool idea, I don't think Japan would make more 6-turret designs after the N.13 class(which wasn't one, but I'm talking about hypothetical projects after that), due to the stress it put on the hull. And having two super-superfiring( ) mounts will not help the balance. If twelve guns would again be an idea, I think Japan would do some thinking on three-gun mounts instead.
But, at said, it's a very cool idea.

The IJN in this period actually preferred the twin cradle mount instead of the triple one. The theory (based on the experiences gained at the Yellow Sea (Aug, 10, 1904) and Tsushima (May 27-28, 1905) was that a twin gun mount could fire much faster than a more complex triple mount. Also, by shipping more twins rather than fewer triples, the IJN believed they had achieved a high rate of saturation efect by salvo firing. So, during this period, I don't think the receptability of an introduction of a triple mount would have been too great.

It is a very nice ship and all, but why the casemate mounts in the 1930's? Its a bit late for those to be in an as-built design.
