Prior to WW1 the RN was trying to figure out how the new invention, aircraft, could be used and following the conversion of HMS Hermes three cross channel boats were converted, HMS Riviera, HMS Empress and HMS Engadine, the last named is now presented

During WW1 the ship was present at Jutland her Short seaplanes discovering 4 German light cruisers.

As always a beautiful drawing and the badge is excellent too. But I'm sure this badge was for RFA Engadine. Two reasons: The RN first began with official badges late 1919 (and your Engadine changed name in 1920), and the badge shape is wrong for this type of vessel. Sorry to be the messenger (please don't kill me :lol: ), but I will "steal" it and put it to the UK badge parts sheet. ;)

Superb drawing Novice and nice to see her recoverted back to merchant use too.I had a look for a pre 1919 unofficial badge in my book but alas couldn't find one, sorry mate.

I think you may be right, about the crest for this HMS Engadine, and the badge belongs to the aircraft transport ship of WW2.

Aparently the sealed pattern badge wasn't issued till 1966.
