No real backstory on this one, except I remembered a line from Ben Rich's book about how skunk works proposed a Patriot armed stealth ship for the navy. Standard 77 cell VLS for VLA, VL Harpoon, and a VL version of the (R)IM-104.

Later on the Patriot missiles would be replaced by quadpacked PAC-3s and THAADs.

It's not hard to imagine vertical stacks, or twin masts, or other variations now that the deckhouses do not have to hold SPG-62. I think SPS-48 might even find its way aboard; C-band is a poor poor search medium at sea.

but yeah, I do not know about the internal size of this radar system, but I suppose it could have had an remodelled structure instead of the one designed for SPY-1. I cannot see much that can be done about the stacks, as placing them on the centerline would make you remodel..... about the entire superstructure. (DG/Perry style funnels might be an idea though)
what was the idea for this ship? an modified DG/AEGIS hull? an entirely new build ship?
