that is the emergency jettison device. an cilinder that pushes out the missile from the launcher when something is wrong with it

It's actually a cylinder on either side. Launchers trained to either beam and elevated to 30deg or so (depending on which side required jettison) and a hydraulic ram ejected the dud round.

They are shown here clearly, just forward or aft (image-right) of the launcher itself.

Very nice to see the Mk10 GMLS.The Italian cruiser Vittorio Veneto had 40 RIM-2/RIM-67 and 20 ASROC in her Mk10,which version was that?Mod-8?This version I use in my Ulysee/Lysandros Class,although Ulysee does not have ASROC in her Mk10.What about its rate of fire?

I believe it was the Mk7 used on them. Regarding the rate of fire from what I've read it appears to be one round every 30 seconds per rail.

The horizontal loading variant was faster or at the same level?(4 rounds total per minute,is very low-this means rethinking of my cruisers).

the diagonal loader was slightly faster due to the fact that the missiles had an shorter track to run.
the slow rate of fire was mostly because the missiles had to be finned after they got off the RSR. only after that they were run up the launcher.
