Nice to see this thread kick-started. The Averoff refit is very interesting.

Thank you guys for all your positive input. :) 8-) :D It is very enjoyable to do this thread when I know I have readers for it. As for future developments, I'm still planning to show the various refits of the modern cruisers as well; pre-war modifications, war modifications, the reconstruction of the Psara etc, so I believe there's some more miles to go here. Let's not forget, either, that the war story needs to be finalized. More installments to be expected! :D

The Averoff "Orlando proposed refit" was a real proposal by the shipyard, or is a "what if" only?

(wonderful drawing anyway)

Actually, it was a real proposition, never finalized and, subsequently scuttled due to lack of funds. Aver off did receive a partial modernization, enabling her to be used as an escort in the Indian Ocean, but it was a far, far cry from this proposal! As for your kind compliments, I'll collect it and immediately forward it to my esteemed colleague, Navarchos!

I did have another look-over at the Odysseus-class, and decided that it didn't meet my standards, so I practically have redrawn it, and now it can serve as a viable base to redraw the RL US Porter-class, with corrected bridge, funnels, masts etc. I also decided to rename the class. It is now called the Epichēírēsis-class after a famous privateer during the Greek War of Liberation, 1821-30. I will gather up the specifics eventually and have them posted here; maybe in the form of a table...we'll have to see... ;)

Actually, it's halfway between...Vickers 5.5"... The Epicheiresis- and Themistocles-classes have the same gun, though the French one is developed by Canet, but can use the same ammo!
