Alright, put 8 sets on there. Considering my usual track record for things like this, I'm near certain at least 7 of them are in the wrong place. ;)

Just an FYI, the ensign is considerably outboard from the SPS-37 to permit it to rotate unhindered.

Urgh, why SPG-60 & SPQ-9? IIRC They are from the late 70s and your ship is from 60s?

Ha, but for insomnia, nothing specific, but for thoughts and/or ideas:

Ranger's Island (circa 1973):

America's Island (again, circa 1973):

USS Midway, Circa 1970 (post SCB-101.66 refit):

Friedman also talks a little bit about the radar fits on page 279 of Carriers if you have access to that book (It really only comes up in bits and pieces in the book). Also, note that what I have marked as the SPN-46, is really the SPN-35. It's part of the landing system

For someone with no solid references, you've done a rather good job.

Getting late, so I believe I'm going to call it a wrap for the night, and return to this on the morrow, make a few more changes, rearrange things, maybe try a different mast. That one is looking a bit chunky to me, may try for some sort of lattice mast. Think I may lower the funnel some too, since its supposed to be offset and outward angled anyhow.

I'll get this gorram thing right yet.

With regards to the aircraft choice I think you could replace the A-7 and Vixen with the Bucc, thus giving you left maintenance concerns. You could even, if needs be fit it out with a refueling system in the bomb-bay and you could, with regards to a recce plat form use a carrier version of the RF-4 :)

But honestly, my choice of aircraft is really not up for debate, just the design of the carrier. If I choose, say, a J2F Duck as a dive bomber, well, yeah, then we can talk. But for these aircraft I believe I have them in appropriate roles, and am going to keep them for this mid-60's version of the Scylla Class.
I Like the Buccaneer. I wanted to use the Buccaneer. You do make a decent point there, but those I have now are what I am using. I'm not replacing them. Period.

Once again, my aircraft choice is not open for debate. Seriously.

I only want to discuss improvements and ideas for the vessels themselves.

Alright, lets give this another shot. Railings and the like will be added later once the masts are finalized in some sort of logical arrangement.

Excellent.

I do like the general layout, but there are two things that I'd change.

The SPG-55s were used for the Terrier missiles that were embarked on the Kitty Hawks. I'd replace them with whatever your primary gun director is (otherwise it is overkill). You have a radar directly under the SPS-39. I presume that is the face-on equivalent of the SPN-43?

The only other change I would make is to the top of the mast. I'd make it a bit taller and add an H or an I shaped platform so you can have a space to place some ESM/ECM domes and at the very top a larger TACAN unit. I forgot to post the USN kit last night, so that's my fault. I'll also post the side ladder-like ECM set to be mounted at the deck edge or on the side of the island (again, my fault).
