The turrets are not placed on the centerline. The turrets are placed like that so they can fire almost forewards as the ship is approaching an enemy fleet or ship. This is a scout cruiser after all.

Yes I know, that's why I asked if it was on purpose (for showing that difference) :D

^Yeah, what he said. :D

And just after I had uploaded the image, I recognized several minor details that needed to be added/I had forgotten. Maybe tomorrow. In any case, If anyone has detailed photos of any of the cruisers or any other sources with info, I would gladly appreciate any assistance. ;)

Here's the Königsberg in 1940, when she was sunk: Radar removed, Flaks reinstalled, Ar-196 floatplane, degaussing cable.

All very nice! Can't wait for the final Karlsruhe version, and for all the versions of Koln!

Yeah, those details will be my doom someday...

Anyways, I have updated all previous versions. I also have another version, this time the original, as planned layout. Minor details in the forward superstructure, but the most significant difference is the AA armament: Originally, there were supposed to be 2 88mm twin Flak C25 in twin mount C25 and four light twin AA around the aft superstructure. The C25 was later installed on Köln as a trial version, the light AA was missing altogether, although the mountings were still there.

As for the style, I have the 88mm point forward, because otherwise they would 'collide' with the aft triple turret (The turning circles of both overlapped).

So, would this count as a Never-built?

I don't believe it would count as a never built considering it is almost the final completed design bar minor details. That said, it would probably be more correct to refer to it as a never built just like the other designs on these forums where the completed and planned designs are different.

Nice series of images though, always loved the sleek look of German surface vessels during this period.

No Denodon. When a ship is not completed like it should be - it's never where, minor or not.
