Thanks. The Saba was designed to counter the increasing numbers of helicopter gunships that was entering service with nations during the eighties. Due to an extremely low wing-loading and high power it could out turn a helicopter going at cruising speed and it would even stand a decent chance against a fast jet so long as it stuck to the tree-tops.
Period press speculated that it would be a contender for the expected mid-1990ies replacement of the A-10.
