I am working on the entire background story, it should be coming soon, but as it covers an era of hundreds of years, it is quite a lot to do.

for now I will only post these ships
first of all, the brittania. launched in 1850, this ship was the first of an series of ships, of which the last one was 30 meters longer and had no sails anymore. this ship was not that succesfull though. it was intended as an escort vessel which could take out enemy's even when there was no wind. it never could do that job though, because she was slow on sails and on steam...... well she was even slower, due to the lack of powerfull engines. after this was discovered, this ship was used as an research ship for different engine and sail configurations, and as an expedition ship.

the entire class was taken out of service in 1858, and they were replaced by small escort craft, some not even steam powered.

(note: this ship was used in battle once more in 1867, because of her magical name, as the new independent british nation called herself Brittania.)

second, the Haarlem class ships.
these ships were meant for escort, anti piracy and showing the flag everywhere on the world. they were fast and agile, but weaponed rather light for the size of the ship. these ships (build from 1820 to 1846) have simularities with the early clipper ships, and some were still in use when the new ship register was started in 1896, now as yachts, transports and smugglers.

The circular paddlewheel on the Brittania doesn't look quite...circular.

Statendam class:

Both ships where ordered by Nazi Germany to be build in the netherlands.
They started as H42(1), and H42(2).
When Germany invaded the Netherlands in 1940, the Allies wanted to destroy the hull's to prevent germany from using it.
But instead of that an project/mission called ''hulk stealing'' was called alive.
Dutch Resistance and Belgium Resistance groups where called in action to this project/mission.
At the night of 19-11-1940 (19 november 1940) two groups of 55 man each where going to the H42's.
Their plan was to cut them loose from their launching spot and get tugs to get it to the open sea.
The plan worked, wich was not suspected.
The Germans had no idea that the To be launched in januari 1941 battleships where launched 2 months to early and towed to sea where the british navy towed it ferther.
2 hours, 23 minuts later a Squadron of german heavy/light cruisers, destroyers, submarines where woken up and send to the ocean.
They chased the British Battlegroup consisting off:
HMS Nelson
2x H42 class hulks.
HMS Hermes
2x Heavy cruisers
1x Light cruiser
22x Destroyers
4x Submarines

The british squadron was not harmed during the chase.
Both H42 class hull's made it to the British homeland, where they where prepared for convertion to ''Aircraft Carriers''.
The ships where to be called Statendam QH222/Potsdam QH216.
