Actually, one ancient Scandinavian tradition is the striped flag; that is, striped with multiple stripes (7-9) instead of just two or three. You can look at the Dutch flags from the early 17th c. for reference. In the fleet of King Erik XIV, in 1563-70 we know that a striped blue/white flag was very common, together with a deep-blue flag displaying the Three Crowns (Tre Kronor). In addition each ship flew the personal "Fänicka" of the noble commanders; thus the Admiral's ship of Baron Claes Christiernsson Horn (St Erik, 91 guns) flew his personal standard at the taff-rail.

What I lack in these flag suggestions are exactly the vexiological references to the countries in question ((((Norwegian Norske Løve, The Danish Tre Løver, the Swedish Tre Kronor, the Finnish Suomen Leijona, Icelandic Griffin (Gammur) or any of the other established historic symbols for Iceland: the bull (Griðungur); dragon (Dreki) or rock-giant (Bergrisi)))). I have here ignored the Falcon symbol, since it appears to my knowleadge to an artificial, late symbol of that island.

Do you mean this flag? http://www.julianstockwin.com/images/RN ... ensign.png. I want one flag for Norseland, and not every nation within it. Oh and the motifs you are talking about, all except for the Iclandic motifs are not from the Viking age or Viking related. They are from the christian kingdom era.

I'm glad you settled with the vertical pattern flag. It has the best looks, IMO.
Also, forgot about that in the ship thread, but methinks those planes look a bit odd, almost cartoonish.

Oi! What do you mean with cartoonish?

well, he means that that jet looks like something I made with lego's 10 years ago..... and lego's don't have the habit to be aero nor hydrodynamic, more to be bulky and blocky.

That flag of from the ''Geuzen'' whish was taken by the navy, but was no flag at all # Dutch one...

It has to be like that to keep the engine away from the sea. Early jet engines were big and relative underpowered. To have the engine embedded in the fuselage would make it ingest a lot of water. Hence the position of it. Also, there is a radar in it. Early seaborn radars were also big.
