APDAF, if you use the 90cm thick number that KHT just used, (and I don't have a reason to doubt it at the moment) you've got nearly 11k tons of armor ( 95m long, 6 meters tall and .9m thick, on both sides with a density of 8 g/(cm³) ) just in the armor belt on a ship that can't be more than 20k tons total full load displacement. You're armor belt is going to use up a higher percentage of your displacement than the entire armor scheme of a North Carolina Class Battleship did thirty years later. It's a bit much.

I have already said that the armoured belt is looks thicker than it is due to it being blended to the hull hopefully decreasing drag on the hull as the edges are sloped into the hull rather than having a 12'' gap between the hull and the thickest part of the armoured belt by having a three foot long sloped edge.

And I have used this on most of my drawings and I have wondered why none of complained until now.

Sorry for double post, *hits self in head with hammer* but thsi is probably the most sound advice give nto you APDAF. I whole heartedly agree with this statement.

APDAF: I can truthfully say that I do not know for sure, but after looking at a great many line drawings of a great many battleships, the only answer I end up at is, that this problem was perfectly taken care of IRL, without making the armor belt look like it's just under 1 meter thick. You can thus assume that most SB drawings follow this pattern as well, without looking like they have abnormaly thick armor belts.

I don't want to argue with you, but I was just watching the opening credits of The Holy Grail on YouTube. (I recently hollowed out a coconut).
Anywho, we shall see if APDAF takes the advice.

APDAF, I know you don't want to, but I strongly suggest that you draw a real ship, one that you can find references for before you go back to drawing these ships. If you chose not to do so, I would be most appreciative of an explanation as to why you don't want to follow this advice.

You need to suggest that with shading or some other drawing "trick." Right now it's just your word.

And I agree with Tim, too.

I have completely redone the Dreadnought class.
I have left the old one in Victorian colours for comparison.
