The Single Class Surface Combatant continues to be the guiding principle for the destroyer and eventually the frigate replacement programs. This may change with the new Shipbuilding policy being developed but until then I'll stick with this line of thought.
Other vessel types will be first to have new steel cut, such as the replenishment ships, but the fighting ships will start with the destroyers. There is always concern with cost but I have not read anywhere that the numbers would be reduced, rather the number of ships would remain the same but the crewing needs will be reduced through automation. The hull costs should remain manageable but the likely largest expenditures will be on capabilities. Radars and weapons for the destroyers will be substantial as Canada prepares to negate the threat of ballistic and surface to surface missiles being developed by countries such as Iran, N Korea, etc. The follow-on frigates will be the same hull but outfitted to a much lesser degree, with limited anti-air. The commonality will enable the ability to add "destroyer capabilities" if needed as the spaces for more VLS and the radar suites already exist.

pick the new APAR and SMART-L from the dutch parts sheet here: http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/ ... 329mjk.png

other comments: VLS may be vulnerable on the bow, I suggest shortening the structure. otherwise it is beginning to look nice, and although I would never have drawn the ship this way, (just not my style) it has some potential. now look at the sb guidelines to get it all according to the standard, and don't forget to paint the canon the right colour.

Also please pay careful attention to the file name

EDIT: After talking with people I forgot to add one thing I had meant to add: any or all of these parts are optional and you can pick and match at your choosing, so you're not obligated to completely change it to my suggestions.

I think I'm done. Thanks for the suggestions and guidance but I'm ready to move on to something else.

you still need to edit your ship with the latest APAR and s=SMART-L.

As far as I could tell from the Thales site is that these are the latest versions. The Smart-S Mk2 is newer but less capable. They don't show any future versions.

Sorry just found the I-mast site. Still not as capable, range is 300km whereas the Smart - L is 400km
