Well I decided to go through that thread - yes, all 177 pages of it - and what's really surprising is that there are actually a few flashes of imagination in there. You've got some people with quite a bit of talent actually and some interesting mecha and fantasy designs and a few interesting gun sketches too. What's really interesting is that some guy actually tried his hand at some very realistic spaceships:

I might make sure that the guy behind the "Atomic Rockets of the Space Patrol" site is made aware of this.

Like I said, actually quite a few flashes of imagination in there, but for the most part, everything is either poorly drawn, outright forgettable, generic, and uninspired, or outright stolen/re-purposed from other sources. Oh, and there are some real gems in there too. These are but a few that I spotted (and not even the most egregious ones, just ones that I thought were most...interesting)

For the most part they really do speak for themselves, presented without comment, like:
-SNIP-
that... I just... what... I don't even...

That picture alone cannot describe how incredibly painful this crap is.

Dr Hood's Shipbucket Case Book

In late 2009 and early 2010 there were serveral cases of Kirovitis which affected several artists. This outbreak finally subsided but since has been overtaken by a new, more virulent Shipbucket virus.

Whats-a-ship-itis

Symptoms;
Hull at least 300 metres long
Multiple large calibre guns (randomly placed)
At least ten types of missile, launchers to also be randonmly placed
Multiple underwater torpedo tubes
Weird hovering aircraft
Weirder flightdeck ideas (the ECV Ulysses reminds me of some of the stuff in the book 'Hybrid Warships')
Laser cannons
Underwater laser cannons
Hull draught of less than 3m despite having a superstructure taller than a reasonable block of high-rise flats
Weird names
Pump-jet propulsion or even better strapping a Saturn V to it
Multiple small chain-guns (preferably casemate mounted)
No idea what a warship looks like
Massive bridge windows and cruise-liner like portholes (VLS next to the swimming pool type stuff a la Tracy Island)
Erm, what does a ship look like again?
Random cranes scattered about
Propellers? What are they... oh those things, nah use super water-jets instead!
Over zealous use of stealth
Two line wacky backstories

Treatment
Use of sunglasses, if reading this thread
Going back to the Real Designs Board to ease your sanity (phew that's what a warship looks like)
Anti-Exploding Head pills
Laughing Gas
The Eraser button on MS Paint

A Corroborating diagnosis:

Missile launchers so placed so when the missiles are launched, they strike other parts of the ship...

Why do I believe this is directed at my drawing of an MT Star Destroyer, Saturn V strapped to a Burke.
