I think the cost of upgrading and refurbishing a Forrestal or Kitty Hawk would be prohibitive, plus they probably don't need something quite that big. They'd probably go with something like the CVs the Indians are acquiring, or perhaps a smaller version of a British CVF. A conventional Charles de Gaule would probably work, but I don't think I'd ask the French to build me a carrier. They didn't do such a great job on the CDG and it would take them 10 or 15 years to deliver it.

Forrestal is an old class of ships, very old. They are all awaiting disposal and that the only thing they can do righ now. The same thing about Hawks' more then 40 years of service for JFK. For now they can only go away, with honor. Sure you can buy them for some couple of billions, then invest in upgrading and refurbishing another couple of billions and you have a ship that will serve you a couple of years before he will be needed in scrapyard.

Brazil works close with French on Nuke ships and airborne stuff, so likely they will go for French nukes or so.

About a year ago there were some reports that Brazil is planning to build 2 CATOBAR aircraft carriers (some reports even mentioned plans to have 3 CV's, so when taking into account the time needed to build first 2 and how much life has their current CV left, building of 3rd one could be needed too). They were to be made mostly locally, with French assistance.
I don't know how it looks now though.

Before any decision on the ship, would need to determine the aircraft first. Brazil has a couple of A-4 Skyhawks already, so CATOBAR would be the prime choice, which leaves just ex-US supercarriers if bought used; and if new-built, US & France as a source. Buying new aircraft, choices are really limited to US, France, Russia, and soon China & India. But that opens up what type of carrier to get; CATOBAR, STOBAR, or STOVL.

Brazil would buy F-18s and/or Rafales. They're already doing this for the Air Force and probably a main motivator as to why they're looking at these two aircraft. If the Gripen was still in the running that'd give the Swedes a serious customer for their naval Gripen too.

Naval Gripen is still only a concept in development, that's how Dassault Rafale won Indian MRCA competition. And both Rafale and F-18s are main competitor for Brazile future carrier.

When we selected a new fighter for Norway we didn't chose the gripen, it has speed but when it come to a multirole it has problem and that it's starts to be a old design.

Oh Gripen is still a superb fighter, one of the best Fourth-generation jet fighter design. Ideal for lots of nations and will fight for many years. Norway take F-35, one of few fifth-generation jet fighters, and will wait a good couple of years to recive first ones. In other hand we don't chose Gripes becase that was political decision not military ... you don't buy the best, you think from who you will buy and how deep you can dive in someone ass in that way. ;)
