Your gonna have serious logistic, training, and probably cost issues if you do it that way it just doesn't workout when you choose equipment from so many different nation especially assorted NATO countries and Russia
also I highly doubt you could put a VLS in a Mistral they are not built or designed to be able to take such a compromise in the hull, which unless I am mistaken and my apologies if I am, a VLS creates.
also you would be loosing capability in what the ship is designed for even if it can be made to work because you would be taking accommodation, aviation, and equipment space away and the carrying such items is the point of the ship, and wasting space in the ship when you escorts can carrier the VLS or launchers much more effectively.
sorry for the rant right there  just trying to help

Ok... Mostly it's inspiration... For the third time. I may not have meant what I said, but can we please drop THAT matter at least? I use the name of the systems I base weapons off of to give you an idea of the capability, not where they came from (except for AEGIS. That comes from America, no doubt).
I'll figure it out when I get there. Right now, I just want to draw ships, and work on my country.

Trojan, I mentioned before that the Mistral has a large space for accomodation. As stated on the wiki page:
Quote:
Accommodations

The space gained by the use of the azimuth thrusters allowed for the construction of accommodation areas where no pipes or machinery are visible. Located in the forward section of the ship, crew cabins aboard Mistral-class ships are comparable in comfort levels to passenger cabins aboard Chantiers de l'Atlantique-constructed cruise ships.

The fifteen officers each have an individual cabin. Senior non-commissioned officers share two-man cabins, while junior crew and embarked troops use four- or six-person cabins. Conditions in these accommodation areas are said to be better than in most barracks of the French Foreign Legion, and when United States Navy vice-admiral Mark Fitzgerald inspected one of the Mistral-class ships in May 2007, it was claimed that he would have used the same accommodation area to host a crew three times the size of Mistral’s complement.
Having the large amount of accomodations as stated above, a VLS wouldn't be too bad.
As for the hull, well.. I don't know.

WIP of my Heavy Aviation Cruiser. Not really sure if I'm really gonna go with this, but I want to post it to get feedback.

Remember, it is a WIP.

It's...honestly not bad at all.

Keep one thing in mind through, your greatest weakness had always been a lack of detail. That's what separates drawings of ships from monoliths of pixels.

Thanks klagldsf. That's why I did the exercise with the WWI era ships, so I could feel more confident with details. I've been trying to pay attention to details on a lot of the stuff I've seen both here and on real ships, so I can better grasp that area.

Concerning the ship itself, circa 1993, would it make sense to start implementing stealth, or should I leave it 'boxy' until later on, like the new millenium?

Well also keep in mind that the details are going to be different depending on the era, but I'm glad you found the exercises helpful.

And yeah, they would've started implementing stealth features (hell the Burkespam has a signature the size of a typical trawler) but it's a pretty large ship to begin with.

Not bad, but I'd drop the guns and vls down to the main deck in order to minimize turbulent airflow over the flight deck. (Okay personaly I'd drop them all the way over the side.)
Also, that flat bow doesn't make much sense if you don't have a ski-jump

Now I will take that heli design and ... KILL IT!
You want some coaxial, of course true world masters are boys from Kamov Design Bureau. But you add some pusher, you follow Sikorsky X2 design(?) in all thats a interesting concept but like most of yanks machines complex and liable to continual breakdowns. ;) I'm not saying NO! for that heli, it's just new idea make real ( and probably fail ) you need rather some good reliable machine.
