Here is an updated version of the Suffren Class SSN (Barracuda Program) of the French Navy.

For comparison, here is the older drawing: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6598917/suffrendfinitif.png

I made some modifications on the pump-jet, the forward planes and the side antennas, based on the model exposed by DCNS in last Euronaval. Sadly, most of the details are still deductive works, based on different artist and official views.

Ah, Suffern, one of the more interesting nuke boats...but then again "interesting" can be applied to a lot of French projects.

Fun fact: only nuke boat class yet constructed that's at least partially meant for export (not even the Russians have pushed hard to export nuke boats, at least not as hard as the French). That's a big reason why these boats are "interesting."

I don't know if the Suffren class is still meant for export, but the design teams already worked on the Scorpen Class and I'm pretty sure the Brazilian SSN will have a lot of technologies in common with the Suffren Class, sure.

I also drew a fictional updated version of the Suffren with VLS on its back. I really enjoy the Suffren design, very pure and subtle compared to the massive and aggressive Astute (Two different styles I equally enjoy) but it really needs more fire-power!

BTW dear polluxdeltaseven, are you going to make the Scorpion and Rubis? I remember someone reserved both classes in the old forum.

I was sure someone already did the Rubis, but I must be wrong, there is no trace of it in the archive. I'm sure that there were some in progress drawing of her in the old forum, but can't remember who did them.

I'll try to find him and contact him. If he's no longer interested in drawing the Rubis Class, I'll ask if I could finish the drawing by myself if you want.

For the Scorpion, I don't see what ship you are refering.

The previous french Subs that were done, were done badly (well at least the rest of the subs that were posted at that time were done badly). Ah here they are:

Rew did them as "Final" drawings:

But I didn't see him back on the Shipbucket, so I upgraded with his drawing:

the thing imitating the 45mm gun in the soviet subs is way, way too small. It's done in shipbucket scale in pr. 45 at least.
