A new attement for this never ending ship - 3 or 4th attemt....

HMS Horn DDL, leader for the baltic FAC squadron....
She differs from her predecessor by having increased command facilites and an all 57mm AAA arnament instead of the earlier mixed 57 and 40mm.

That looks great Psilander. Sleek yet also purposeful and quite mean, plenty of rapid-fire firepower for AA and anti-FACuse backed up by a good mix of anti-surface and ASW weaponry.

Thanks Hood, just as I wanted her.

Contiuning ith anorther remake, the Snapphanen ASW frigate from the early 60s. Mainly built as replacement for ageing WW2 frigates and destroyers. They are similar to a Leander in role. The can also provide point defence protection for the carriers with their heavy AAA arnament 2x3 57mm with their own directors.

I love Your designs Psilander. Even though I must admit I'm not a huge fan of Your colouring/shading style. But the thread as a whole is awesome!

Very sleek looking vessels I'll agree. I tend to prefer WW1-WW2 era vessels for the character they have that modern vessels have lost behind their sensors and the killer of streamlining and stealth but these are great. Wouldn't fancy trying to land the Alouette III on them in a lively sea however!

Thanks - I try to make my draings look like the tecnical colorings of early 20th C. Its more 3D feeling in them than kosher Shipbucket, which in many cases tend get quite flat.

I agree, with the words of W. S Churchill when he compared World war 1 with his experience from the battle of Oumdurman- "War used to cruel and magnificent, now it is just cruel and sqolid"

Well, that "kosher Shipbucket, which in many cases tends to get quite flat" is precisely what I like. Not the "flatness" of course, but that it's so "clean". ;)

I agree. While Psilander does have a unique way of shading the ships, almost to a point where it looks like it could be a side view of a model or something, I have gotten used to the dull clean flatness of the SB style, and I can't help but cringe ever so slightly when I see all that detail.
I will say though, Psilander, that your ships are all magnificent and drawn very well. So keep up the good work! ;)
