Just a warning: I've found that I've accidentally downloaded potential spyware/malware the last time I downloaded Paint.net, and the administrators of the host site seem both too ignorant and prideful of the situation to really care.

Oh. Swell. I've already downloaded it. I guess the odds of this one exploding just jumped a few percentage points.

If you actually downloaded Paint.net and didn't download anything else (it would've told you/asked you permission) you should be fine. It's just that some of the download links on the front page are ambiguous (some of them are from advertisers freely purveying malware) so it's a little bit of guess work to find which one is correct (it's not hard, but it's a lot harder than it should be, and as I said the administrators of Paint.net seem extremely uninterested in fixing this problem due to a seeming combination of ignorance and pride on the issue).

crap. didn't think of that. It appears my faulty math was actually leading me in a plausible direction.

My posting here will probably be down for the next several weeks as it is "run-up" time for DragonCon, our annual geekfest here in Atlanta. Since I'm the head looney of my particular fan group, I'll be pretty busy doing all manner of head looney type things getting us ready, so my drawing time will be seriously curtailed for a bit.

a little something I've recently started on, my first attempt at a "modern" CV, this one from 1965. I figure probably a 2 ship class.

Yeah, got a ways to go on it as yet.

Bombhead, I ... ummm ... kinda borrowed you gun mountings, at least as placeholders for now. Most likely will keep them as I doubt I could do better.

Looks like a good start, though an interesting choice in guns considering the time frame. Any thoughts on the air group yet?

still kinda working out which aircraft I want to use, but I figure an airgroup sized somewhere in the 66-72 aircraft range.

as for the gun mounts, I am trying for a transitional type carrier, between the 50's all-gun armament to the 70's and beyond missile and CIWS armed carriers. If you have a better idea for the type of gun mounts to use, please, feel free to chime in. Really, I'm about as open for suggestions on this CV as I have ever been for anything.
