I'd go with the second one.

It's hard to tell with the angle of that pic, but it looks like the hydraulic piston is slightly above the frame, so either drawing 1 or 2 is more correct, and #2 looks a little more accurate to me.

The last one for today.

Changed the hydraulic system a bit, made some details, and added two anchors.

Well since it's related, I'm wondering what the USN does about sub rescue now that both of these ships are long retired.

LOL

Actually, the Mystic-class DSRVs have been mothballed and placed in reserve and were replaced with this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Submarine_ ... ion_System

According to Global Security, the system can be installed on any military or civilian "vessel of opportunity" that's big enough to handle it.

And, great work, Cascadia. Keep it up.

Further advancement

[ img ]

I finished the anchors, and added the large marking buoys. I further raised the aft superstructure a bit to eleminta a flaw in the boom conection.
Also finished the radar masts (not the radar. Don't know yet what was installed).

Next I try to understand the travelling crane. There are no really good pictures at the net.

BTW I am not happy withe the bouys - well actually I am happy with the way they look, but not the way they are mounted. In reality they are not facing three o'clock but two o'clock.
