Stalwart was a class of 18 ocean surveillance ship designed to use the SURTASS (a towed array passive sonar). Essentially, they were suppose to keep track of Soviet nuclear subs.

After the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, these ships were no longer needed for their main purpose so the most of them got given away and/or converted. Here they are.

Three ships of this class were used in counter-drug operations known as "War on Drugs" between 1993 and 2002 under Joint Interagency Task Force - East. The SURTASS equipment was removed and long range radars were fitted: SPS-49 on Stalwart and Indomitable, SPS-40 on Capable.

T-AGOS-1 Stalwart got struck from military service in 2002 and was donated to SUNY Maritime College as where she remained docked for several years without seeing any action. In 2011 she was bought by Stabbert Maritime and renamed "Ocean Stalwart".

T-AGOS-2 Contender became the training vessel "Kings Pointer" in the US Merchant Marine Academy.

T-AGOS-3 Vindicator was transferred to NOAA as Hi'Ialakai (R-334) in 2001.

T-AGOS-4 Triumph was struck in 1995 and is awaiting disposal.

T-AGOS-5 Assurance was transferred to Portugal as NRP Almirante Gago Coutinho (A-523).

T-AGOS-6 Persistent became the training ship "State of Michigan" in the Great Lakes Maritime Academy. I've already drawn her before; this is an updated version.

T-AGOS-7 Indomitable is now NOAAS McArthur II (R-330).

T-AGOS-8 Prevail got converted into a Training Support Vessel.

T-AGOS-9 Assertive initially was transferred to NOAA but they didn't keep her so she ended up in the Seattle Maritime Academy. The ship is docked there since 2008 and pretty much abandoned...

T-AGOS-10 Invincible was converted to a Missile Range Instrumentation Ship.

T-AGOS-11 Audacious was transferred to Portugal as NRP D. Carlos I (A-522).

T-AGOS-12 Bold is now operated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

T-AGOS-13 Adventurous was transferred to NOAA as Oscar Elton Sette (R-335).

T-AGOS-14 Worthy was transferred to the US Army and converted to a Missile Range Instrumentation Ship.

T-AGOS-15 Titan is now NOAAS Ka'Imimoana (R-333).

T-AGOS-16 Capable is also in NOAA as Okeanos Explorer (R-337).

T-AGOS-17 Tenacious was transferred to New Zealand as HMNZS Resolution (A-14).

T-AGOS-18 Relentless was transferred to NOAA as Gordon Gunter (R-336).
