Booting to beginner's forum.

Oh lord does this need work. I'll let some of the newer people cut their teeth on helping fix this one.

That choppa is a least of your problems. But we maybe start from basic. If we start with that "design" it must be put in proper template, then there is a resize problem I see. You make it in PNG. and thats good but pic has ben resize and lost its quality. If you use Photobucket check this tutorial: http://shipbucket.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=402

When you do that and upload in good size that design we will start take it apart and burn it with holy fire of realism. ;) Don't worry it's for your own good.

I am not sure that realism really applies here as it is based off a ship in a novel. That would be a bit like trying to base SciFi starships on current technology. The USS Enterprise NCC-1701 would end up looking like the Space Shuttle Enterprise. Station Babylon 5 would look like the ISS. Lord knows what the Millenium Falcon would end up being like. ;)

Of course, not having read any of the books mentioned, I'm not certain I can comment on the accuracy of the design. Perhaps if a description from the book was provided?

I missed earlier that the ship is based off of a book. The best help that might happen now is if you post the descriptions of the ship that are included in the text, then we can go from there.

"In the icy waters of the desolate Antarctic, a lone British outpost is taken over by Argentinean forces. The world's only immediate defense is the USS Cunningham, America's first stealth warship, whose female commander is untested in battle. Dear Gods ... female commander of a warship, bloody terrifying.

HEY! Honor Harrington is an awesome female commander of warships, albeit of starships. :P

Yes, I am a fan of David Weber's Honor Harrington series of books.

I almost know it that someone will pull out that. Harrington and her flying dil... I know that series and with all my power try to avoid it, I'm old guard ... woman on board is a bad luck, woman who command ship is such terrifying thing that I will wake up with scream if I ever dream about that situation.

But back to action, lets wait for some description about that destroyer, for now we know only that she is super-mega-oh-ah stealth ship.

I haven't read this in awhile, here you go

Measuring 580 feet from her radically raked clipper bow to her short well deck aft, she was the length of a treaty-vintage heavy crusier, she also would have displaced as much if it wasn't for the extensive use of aluminum alloy and composite materials

there was the single low slope sided deck house starting just ahead of the midships line and running aft to the fantail, Inset in the angle of of its upper forward face was the transparent strip of the bridge windscreen ,and belted around it was the ships Spy2- A augmented aegis system.
Now a freestanding mast array a towering fin-like structure, sat atop the deck house, gone was the chrsitmas tree tangle of radars and masts, replace wioth receptor panels and emittermeads fared into the mast's "smart" skin.

Full warloads in torpedo tubes, phalanx magazines are also full , seventy six millimeter fore and aft, oto melaras, as for the VLS
all cells loaded and operational, 36 harpoons twos, twelve HARMs,twelve Sea SLAMs, twelve SCMs, thirty six Asrocs, forty-eight LORAINs, twenty-eight ESSMs, four Brave drones , and a Zenith round

also I fixed the sizing issue with the above picture

what about the propulsion and hull shape?
also, only from this, I have already spotted quite a few mistakes :P
I list them here short, see if you can find them:
- guns
- radars (position and type)
- phalanx
- that is definitely no clipper bow
- I don't know what's in it, but I doubt there is space for an well deck
- deckhouse is too much forward

and with all the above in mind only, the ship is indeed not making that much sense....
I mean, 2*76mm oto melara on an USN ship? and one with the weapons of an CSGN nonetheless?

btw, the cover of the above linked book seems to have put an sea shadow/LCS-1 structure on top of an burke hull.
