I would replace Fulmar with Firefly as the Fulmar was already relatively outdated by 1942-3 in my opinion
and why the scout role at all? The USN for example used dive bombers IRRC for the role so I don't see why you need both
I really like the carrier though and I just love the biplane Grumman usage

Different navies have different philosphies. I prefer scouts to be fast and well-armed. The Firefly didn't come along until about 1942-43. I do have it replacing the Fulmar at that time. I could fudge a year or 2, but 1940 may be a bit early.

Honestly, no, you didn't miss it ... I missed putting it on there. When I copy/pasted the list from my wordpad, somehow that last line got left off. (The paint scheme info was added seperately.) Thats kinda what had me confused when folks started mentioning the Firefly, because I knew I had it on there, at least on my master list on my compy. It just didn't make it to here is all. whoops.

Besides, as an ardent Browncoat, how could I not use an aircraft named the "Firefly".

As a somewhat moderately interesting sidenote - I used to build 1/72 scale aircraft of the 30's and 40's, all in as accurate a paint scheme as I could get them. Except for one, an old Frog kit I found of the Firefly. Just for the heck of it, I painted it up as a GH Royal Marines ground attack aircraft. Yes, I have been doing Grays harbor for a long time now, about 9 or 10 years. Well, about 5 years ago, our cat had 5 kittens. They were very adventurous. I came home from work one afternoon to find that some of them had managed to find their way up to a shelf I had about a dozen aircraft on, including my Firefly. It looked like Hickham Field after the Pearl Harbor attack. I still have whats left of that Firefly someplace, I may try and find it now and see if I can fix it.

most of my models have sadly been broken in less funny scenarios
WHat do you plan on using the Fulmar for after the FIrefly enters service as I see it stays in service until 1945
training and/or target tug?

Secondary theaters, FAA Naval Reserve units, Training ... pretty much the whole gambit. Basically, anywhere decent aircraft are needed, but doesn't require first line machines.

HMS Medusa as refit/upgraded in late 1942-early 1943.



Tripod mast removed and replaced with a single mast with surface and air search radars installed.
5 Mk.51 AA directors added
Octuple 2pdrs's removed and replaced with quad 40mm
Single 2pdr's removed and replaced with twin 40mm
New HACS directors for the 4.5" mounts

I am certain I can count on y'all to point out any flaws or stupid mistakes I may have made and to help me correct them, or just make it look better overall.

just one question
Don't carriers usually carry a more equal amount of fighters and bomber/torpedo planes (i am probably dead wrong on this)

It kinda depends on the mission requirements, I believe. I have this as my "default" airwing, which may be adjusted depending on what the carrier is supposed to be doing at the time. If it is covering amphib landings ... fewer TB, and more DB and fighters, for example. I think it all pretty much boils down to what each particular navy's air philosophy is at the time and whether they are offensive minded, defensive minded or going for a balanced approach. For my carriers, I tend to lean towards a heavy offensive capability
